Obituary of Mario Mancini

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mario Mancini announce his passing on Dec 2, 2022 at WRH- Ouellette Campus surrounded by his family, at 76 years of age. He leaves behind his beloved and heartbroken wife Lidia (nee Rotondi) with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Much-loved Dad of Lisa (Frank) Polidori and Paul (Marija) Mancini. Adored Nonno of Ryan & Jason, Anthony & Adriana.

Mario was born in Atina, Italy on January 1st, 1946 to the late Giuseppe & Teresa Mancini. Adored brother of the late Pierina (late Mario) Pescosolido of Italy. Cherished son-in-law of Lina and the late Joe Rotondi (2013). Beloved Zio to niece Maria Teresa and nephew Tonino of Italy. Many cousins in Italy, US and Canada.

After having completed his studies in Italy, Mario came to Windsor in 1966 to visit family but it did not take him long to establish roots. In 1967, he met the love of his life Lidia, and married her on June 29, 1968. Mario was young and strong with an unwavering work ethic and steadfast ambition which allowed him to learn and excel in the field of construction. Mario’s passion and drive motivated him to make a successful life for himself and his family. He proudly retired in 2014 after building a legacy of accomplishments.

Mario was a dedicated member of the Ciociaro Club, spending countless volunteer hours. He served on the first building committee and on the Board of Directors for many years. Mario’s integral involvement in the building of the Madonna di Canneto Chapel was something he held dear to his heart.

Those closest to Mario were fortunate to have a loyal, supportive and constant figure in their life. He was always there to lend a helping hand or give advice. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for others. In the last few years, Mario found joy and fulfillment working in his garden, spending time with friends at Tim Horton’s and making memories with his family. His most precious times were spent around the kitchen table sharing stories with his 4 grandchildren whom he loved beyond words. They will miss their Nonno Mario immensely and will always hold his loving memory in their hearts.

If you so desire, the family would appreciate donations to In Honour of the Ones We Love and The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
